Dr. Yen is originally from Taiwan and emigrated to the U.S. with his parents in 1983. He attended college at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, graduating with a BS degree in Biology in 1993. After college, he attended medical school at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical school and received his MD degree in 1997. After medical school, he applied and was accepted into the Internal Medicine residency training program at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville in Florida. After completing his Internal Medicine training in 2000, he decided to specialize in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. This led to him to pursue Pulmonary Medicine fellowship training at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville from 2000 to 2002, followed by Critical Care Medicine training at Mayo Clinic Rochester in Minnesota from 2002 to 2003.
During his residency and fellowship training, Dr. Yen developed a keen interest in Sleep Medicine and he did additional research at the Mayo Clinic. After working in private practice in central Florida and North Carolina, Dr. Yen re-located to the Tampa Bay area in 2011 from NC to FL and was employed at the Diagnostic Clinic as a staff pulmonologist and sleep specialist in Largo, FL. In 2014, Dr. Yen left the Diagnostic Clinic and became employed by Envision Physician Services as an attending critical care physician at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. In June 2019, Dr. Yen left his position with Envision Physician Services and started the current office practice of Tranquil Sleep & Pulmonary Solutions.
Dr. Yen is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and playing golf. He is committed to help his patients with optimal management of their respiratory and sleep problems.
